Description

Ebonite friction rods are useful for electrostatic experiments and can be used to charge an electroscope. They are 30 cm long and 8 mm in diameter.

The ebonite friction rod is used with wool fabric (sold separately) to demonstrate the principles of static electricity. When an uncharged ebonite rod is rubbed against an uncharged wool fabric, electrons pass from the fabric to the ebonite. The wool fabric becomes positively (+) charged, while the ebonite rod becomes negatively (-) charged.

It is among the materials used in experiments conducted in physics and science laboratories in schools for electrostatics science, education and teaching.
